Exchange 2007 transaction logs
I haveExchange 2007 SP1 running on Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2. I justran abackup using NTBACKUP and selected the Microsoft Exchange Server\Microsoft Information Storenode in the selection list. I selected a backup type of "normal". After the job completed, the transaction logs remained.I expected thetransaction logsto be flushed after the backup completed based on past experience with Exchange 5.5/2000/2003 and comments made here:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/b6d57c55-0a18-4f0b-b681-060476292ccb/Are transaction logs not flushed after using NTBACKP with Windows 2003/Exchange 2007?Any idea what I may have done wrong?Any insight is much appreciated.McR

Hi,Are you getting any event about backup completion in Application event log? When backup completes it logs event id 213 with source ESE and after that you can see event id 916 specifying range of transaction log files deletion. Check if you get any error in event log...Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

I have figured out what I did wrong. I did not select one of the mailbox databases for backup. After selecting the entire SG for backup, the logs cleared as expected.McR
