We are having the same problem. In fact now our server takes 2 hours to login because the information store service is constantly listed as (stopping). We just want exchange off of our server yet encountered this problem and can find NO WAY to resolve this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Chad, Thanks for your post, I am sorry to hear you are experiencing problems as well. We have not had any problems with logging in, just the fact there is no way what so ever of removing this software. I am quite disappointed with Exchange Server 2007, it installed really well, and some of the features were good with it, others not so good, however the removal is a complete and utter night mare, I have spent two full working days trying to remove the server with no luck what so ever. I am sick to death of the thing. I even tried ringing Microsoft Tech Support, to be told that it would cost 199 before I could get any answers out of them. I really hope they get this sorted before more users fall victim to this and choose not to invest in the product. Exchange Server 2003 to me seemed much more sturdy and reliable, and I certainly will not be using 2007 for an incredibly long time, I expect there to be problems with software, but not to this extent. Hopefully someone will post an answer to our problem soon which will solve the predicament we are both in, but the problem I have noticed, is that there are not that many people who know that much about these sort of un-installation problems. RegardsRob

Chad, my colleague has just asked me to post this for you:"Your problem may be as a result of the log on account to run the store no longer being valid. Go through services, and check the log on account for the store program, cant remember what it is called."I hope this helpsRob

Thanks, I will deffinatly try that. We did get the server to boot up by going into safe mode and disableing the Informatio Store service. This also fixed the remote desktop issue we were having. We are still unable to uninstall Exchange server because of the public database error. It can't check for replicas because the information store is not running. Is there anyway to have uninstall ignore the fact that there could be replicas since the information store is not running?

Has anyone found a fix for this `PublicFolderHierarchy' uninstall problem?

Exactly the same story. If there was no co-existance with Exchange 2003 server, I'd probably reinstall the server with 2007 completely. Unfortunately, uninstalling Exchange 2007 is mission impossible. As a result we've got a brand new server that actually does nothing except hanging Exchange store and system attendant services.

I had this issue and ended up just removing the exchange attributes from ADSI and reinstalling..following all steps of setup.com \prepare*after that all went well.
