Exchange 2010: Unable to execute eseutil /r
Our mailbox role server lost its connection to its disks (located on the SAN.) After restoring access to the disks, a couple of the mailbox databases were dismounted (only one out of five mounted.) The error generated when trying to mount them
is as follows:
Couldn't mount the database that you specified. Specified database: PublicFolders1; Error code: An Active Manager operation failed. Error: The database action failed. Error: Operation failed with message: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database.
(hr=0x80004005, ec=-1032)
. [Database: dbname, Server: servername].
An Active Manager operation failed. Error: The database action failed. Error: Operation failed with message: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x80004005, ec=-1032)
. [Database: dbname, Server: servername].

A eseutil /mh shows that is in a 'Dirty Shutdown' state. An attemp to execute an eseutil /r command returns the following:
eseutil /r e02 /l L:\publicfolders_log /d T:\publicfolders
Initiating RECOVERY mode...
Logfile base name: e02
Log files: L:\publicfolders_log
System files: <current directory>
Database Directory: T:\publicfolders
Performing soft recovery...
Operation terminated with error -1032 (JET_errFileAccessDenied, Cannot access file, the file is locked or in use) after
0.78 seconds.
I have found that a 1032 error is a file lock or something else has the process open. I've checked and nothing has that file open or is making a connection to it. I can see the connections to the one mounted database and there are no similar
connections to the ones that are unmounted.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Solved the problem... the disks that contained the mailbox databases were offline when I found them. I put them online using diskpart, which by default, puts the disks in a read-only state. Once the disks were set to writeable, I
was able to mount the databases. If you use the Disk Management GUI to put the disks online, it automatically puts them in a writeable state.
