Hi, Trying to install Exchange 2010 by first preping the domain with "setup.com /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions" . I have placed the Exchange 2010 server and a DC [also a Global Catalog server] into their own network, just in case of any errors/problems. 3 times I have run the command and each time it returns an error "failed - no global catalog servers available". What is going wrong? Fizz

Is the DC in the Exchange site confured as a Global Catalog? It doesn't sound like it. Exchange requires at least one GC server in the same AD site as the Exchange server.Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

The server must be able to communicate with every domain in the forest in which you ran Exchange Server 2003 DomainPrep. In each Active Directory site where you plan to install Exchange 2010, you must have at least one global catalog server.
