Exchange 2010 - Meeting request signature with images fails to send?

Hi There,

I have outlook 2010 working with exchange 2010 in-house ( just upgraded from exchange 2003, on the way to 2013)

However when i send a meeting request with an image (jpg, png or gif) in the body of the meeting request it does delivered.

The image can be part of a signature or just inserted, either way it can't be delivered out of our exchange server.

(Its not our email scanning service as we see that messages go through that nice and fast - if they get out of exchange.)

What's also also odd is that after a couple of hours the png and Gif attachments came through. Word attachment in the meeting requests are fine.   But no Jpg's.

All normal emails with images are fine.

Any ideas on why this is?

Many thanks

Stuart

Look to see if you have a transport rule that might be dropping the messages.  Look at the properties of the mailbox and ensure that there is not a low maximum message size.

Hi Ed,

Sorry, No i've not got any transport rules that come into play for this.

And the users involved can send large messages and this is proven by the large attachments they can send.

Kind regards

Hi Stuart,

According to your description, I noticed that the issue happened when the internal users sent meeting requests with an image (jpg, png or gif) in the body of the meeting request to external users. And the meeting request can be sent but the image can't be viewed in the receiver side. If that is the case, please do the following points in OWA to narrow down the issue:

1. Confirm if the issue happens to all domain users when sending meeting request to external environment.

2. Send the test meeting request with image to internal attendees, check whether the image can be viewed in attendee's side.

3. Send the test meeting request with image to other domain users (hotmail, gmail, domain1.com, domain2.com etc.) to confirm if the image can't be viewed for all external users or specific domains.

Hi Winnie,

Thanks for your reply, the meeting invite is typically not received, Its just held in the submission Queue but never goes anywhere. Oddly png and Gif images are delayed for a few hours but do seem to send after that.

It happens to all users sending to external addresses, Internal meetings are fine (unless there are external people included)

We can make it happen each time we put any jpg image in the meeting request body.

Any ideas?

thanks

Any third-party antivirus or antispam installed on the server?

Hi Ed,

Yes, there is - but even disabling the AV does not help - the images in meeting requests still won't send.

This really has me perplexed.

Kind regards

Stuart

Hi Ed,

yes, but same sophos antispam as we used before with the same outlook 2010 client. It goes into exchange but jst then hangs about waiting to be sent for about 2 days.

Thanks

Stuart

Make sure that any e-mail features on client antispam are turned off.

We are still hoping there might be other suggestions as neither of these worked.
