Exchange 2010 - Message Delivery Restrictions Configuration
Hi, I need to configure a couple of accounts to receive only from a specific set of internal users (which it's already done), and to receive mail from external domains (internet). Basically the restriction only applies to the vast majority of internal users defined within the Exchange server, while allowing external users to send what they want (it was requested this way). Is there any way to accomplish this? the only way i see it is creating contacts within the AD to add to the rule (in the user mailbox settings), but doing it this way (even though this rule applies only to a couple of users), can easily become an administration nightmare. Please help! Thanks a lot in advance!

Create 2 transport rules, You just create a DL called for example "restricted users" than you create an exceptions DL called "restricted exceptions" You then create a transport rule to reject all emails sent to the "call center users" except when the message is from people and choose "call center users exceptions" and also choose when the from address contains externaldomain.com. Then you add your internal users to the call center users exception DL.James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Hi! I've created a transport rule to reject email from Internal Users, except those specified within the rule (Users and Distribution Groups), this enables the user (or selected users) to keep receiving email from external domains without being filtered (as requested), thanks a lot for your input. Thanks Castinlu, but I found it easier to deny all, and allow (via exception) a selected few (users and distribution groups) to send mail to the restricted mailboxes. Regards

hi, You also can create a group which included the restricted users. Then you can add this group into the reject list on users'mailbox . (in this case it refer to the couple of users) Select the user in EMC->right click->properties->mail flow setting->message delivery restrictions-> rejcet message from->check the sender in the following list, add the group in. hope can help you thanks, CastinLu TechNet Community Support
