Exchange 2010 Can't Export Mailbox
I need to export our mailbox contents to pst in order to recover recoverable items. The share I'm using is set up with full permissions for the Exchange Trusted Subsystems and I've tried a number of different shares however the command always
fails with "Couldn't find the Enterprise Organization container."
The system is server 2008 R2 Enterprise. The server is Exchange 2010 Sp1 and I've checked my role permissions and they include the export mailbox command.
Any help gratefully recieved - clock ticking on deleted items!

This is a bit of a misleading errors, i.e. could be the problem is actually related to a lack of permissions on the shared folder being used as the target for the .PST file. To solve the issue, ensure you have:
NTFS Permissions. Make sure the Exchange Trusted Subsystem group has at least read and write capabilities on the share being used as the target for the .PST file.
Share Permissions. Of course, you need share permissions as well. Make sure that Exchange Trusted Subsystem group has at least read and change share permissions.
Once the permissions are set, you should have no problems exporting a .PST to the share.
BTW: if you are interested in a 3rd party solution that will allow you to open, browse, search, export or recover data from an Offline database and same for online Production servers and more check out Lucid8's DigiScope

Hi Anil
I needed to install exchange tools on one of our workstations but alas I still get the same outcome.

Hi Troy
Thanks for this but as I stated in my original post I've already checked the permissions according the Mike Pfeiffer's post.

Hmm
have you tried creating a new user and adding the appropriate rights and keep that user out of the domain admins and other groups that have an explicit deny right associated?
have you tried running the export command direct from the server? Troy Werelius

Agree with Troy, Its looking more a AD permission issue on mailbox container. PLease use another account with full exchange permission and test. If it goes well then you need to re-assign your account permission again.

To import or export mailbox data, you need to add the Mailbox Import Export management role to a role group.

I tried from the server first, and yes I have tried with a brand new account. As far as I can see from the get-role command I have import and export rights on all accounts - we run a scheduled task which uses Add-MailboxPermission -User xxxx -AccessRights
FullAccess for myself and a couple of other administrators.
I'm going to try tomorrow granting explicit export/import rights.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
Just a thought could it be that the share has to be registered in AD?
Thanks again
Jay

I would definitely ensure you added the explicit import/export right
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee633452.aspx As long as the share has the correct rights all should be well Troy Werelius
