Exchange 2010 Deployment in Exchange 2003 environment
Hi,
I am at a client which had a previous failed Exchange 2010 installation that I had to manually remove, however now when I am trying to install the new Exchange 2010 CAS/HT roles it is telling me there is a Exchange 2010 throttling-policy running and causes
the install to fail.
The removal steps dont work because I dont have access to the exchange 2010 powershell commands?
Can I remove this manually?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Shaun,
Its looking that still removed server information resides in AD. Did you check in ADSI Edit whether you are able to see old exchange value. If yes then you can remove it and can try installation again.
See below stpes to search server in ADSI Edit.
1. Go to Primary Domain Controller
2. Open ADSIEDIT
3. Right Click on ADSIEdit and Click Connect to
4. Connect to “Default Naming Context”
5. Navigate to the following objects and Delete them.
DC=Domain,DC=Com -> OU=Microsoft Exchange Security Groups
DC=Domain,DC=Com -> CN=Microsoft Exchange System Objects
6. Right Click on ADSIEdit and Click Connect to
7. Connect to “Configuration”
8. Navigate to the following objects and Delete them.
CN=Configuration,DC=Domain,DC=Com -> CN=Services -> CN=Microsoft Exchange
CN=Configuration,DC=Domain,DC=Com -> CN=Services -> CN=Microsoft Exchange Autodiscover
9. Force the Active directory Replication.
10. Exchange 2010 Manual Uninstallation is Completed

Awesome I figured that out but now I am sitting with a new problem, the setup complained about a federated account already been there. I deleted as the KB articles refer to but now I cannot run any installation. All my Exchange roles installations are complaining
about that account been missing, yet when it was there it complained about been there.

Regarding the above removal steps, I wont impact the existing Exchange 2003 environment?

The official method is to recover the server, and then uninstall it properly from “Add/Remove” panel
