Exchange 2010 Install and Forest Functional Level
I'm trying to install Exchange 2010 on a Windows 2008 R2 Data Center. I continue to get the following error:
Organization Prerequisites
Failed
Error:
The forest functional level of the current Active Directory forest is not Windows Server 2003 native or later. To install Exchange Server 2010, the forest functional level must be at least Windows Server 2003 native.I've raised the forest functional level to Windows 2008 R2. Butyet I continue to have this issue.Within my domain Ihave 3 Windows 2008 R2Data CenterServers in my domainand 1 Windows 2008 memeber sever which containsan Exchange 2007 SP2 server. My goal is to move all my mail boxes to Exchange 2010.However, I can't install it because of theforest functional level error that I'm receiving. There is no virutalizationinvolved. Thanks

I figured it out. I needed to raise the Forest Functional level and the Domain functional level. They are seperate as I found out. Thanks

You sure you raised the forest functional level or did you raise the domain functional level? Also, check out this thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/exchange2010/thread/002077a4-5706-4312-a035-6d3a24ec590aMichel de Rooij,

Believe it or not, Exchange 2010 is not supported on DataCenter edition. This may be the problem.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719(EXCHG.140).aspx

I got it to work on DataCenter. Just because it is not in the list doesn't mean it isn't supported.

Don't confuse 'working' and'supported'. The 'supported' part means that MS has tested all aspectsof Exchange running on that platform. They haven't done this. Thatmeans it isn't a supported configuration.---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP---

Hi,
I also successfully installed Ex2010 on Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter edition.
Here is my thread which I posted when I was having problems in installing Ex2010 on that Windows edition.

I have this same problem, and the functional leve has been risen on both Windows 2003 SBS and Windows 2008 R2 Standard server to Windows 2003 and native has been selected. I can't get the install to work.
