Exchange 2010 Missing Database
Hello engineers,
Interesting problem to have on a Friday. I was doing some mailbox maintenance and attempting to move 5 mailboxes to a newly created database when my server locked up in the middle of the transfer. I rebooted my exchange server to find that the
database just disappeared. The datavase was empty so I am not concerned about missing data. When I went to look a the mailbox move request the 5 active request still show and when trying to remove them exchange errors and states that the database
does not exist.
How can I get around this error? The following Management Shell commands fail with error pointing to the missing database.
Remove-MoveRequest -MoveRequestQueue -"TargetDatabase" -MailboxGuid "ExchangeGuid"
Remove-MoveRequest -identify "user"
Simple Exchange topology of a single 2010 Exchange server running all roles.
It would be helpful just to be able to remove the request and start the move from scratch.

The following attributes are added to a user account for the mailbox in Active Directory. These attributes are used to store information about moving the mailbox and some are updated throughout the move.
msExchMailboxMoveBatchName msExchMailboxMoveFlags msExchMailboxMoveRemoteHostName msExchMailboxMoveSourceMDBLink msExchMailboxMoveStatus msExchMailboxMoveTargetMDBLink
So what you can do is go into adsiedit.msc and browse to the user accounts you were trying to move and clear those attributes.

Thanks Andy,
You helped make that a lot easier fix than I thought it was going to be. Always good to learn something new.
