Exchange 2010 OAB fails due to Public Folder not being replicated
Hi
I've recently migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010, and everything went fine, or a least I thought.
I had all public folders replicated to the new server, and everything looked fine.
Now I've come to realize, that the \NON_IPM_SUBTREE\OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK and \NON_IPM_SUBTREE\SCHEDULE+ FREE BUSYwas not replicated to the new server. The old server was uninstalled, so there is no way of going back and undoing this.
I cannot add the new server to the replication, because the folder does not exist in it's public folder, so an update OAB results in a failure.
OABGen encountered error 80004005 (internal ID 50101f1) accessing the public folder database while generating the offline address list for address list '/'.
- \Default Offline Address Book
encountered error 80004005 while cleaning the offline address list public folders under /o=ORG/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address Book. Please make sure the public folder database is mounted and replicas exist of the offline address list
folders. No offline address lists have been generated. Please check the event log for more information.
- \Default Offline Address Book
I get one of these for every address list.
I guess, that if I could delete the System Public folders, and recreate them I would be fine, but it won't let me.
How do I fix this?
Thanks
Sebastian

How was the old server unistalled if it still had public folder
replicas on it???? Did you use ADSIEDIT to delete the public folder
store?!

This should work:

We used moveallreplicas script, and everything looked fine. We have the same issue with 3 different Exchange servers in 3 different org.

So you were able to just select the public folder database in the EMC
and delete it? There were no warnings? Or did you uninstall the server
and got no warnings that there were still replicas in the public
folder database?

If the system folders weren't replicated I'm not surprised. I'm
somewhat surprised that you didn't notice the problem and stopped
uninstalling servers (or public folder databases) until you figure out
what was happening.

Hi Rich
I don't recall there being any errors regarding the public folders. As soon as everything was replicated. "Public folder structure" not system public folders we could delete the public folder database and uninstall the servers. We did not use ADSI Edit.
But of course we did not check if the system folders were replicated.
What ever caused it doesn't matter as much as how I clean up. Can I some how delete the System public folders, and recreate them?
Thanks

Yes, you can. See the URL in my first response to recreate the system
folders.

Oops, I did not see that in your first post. I'll try it out. Thanks.
