Basically a Public Folder is like a network share but on Outlook right ? Why do Microsoft want to eliminate it as much as possible, does it have drawbacks ?

Yes, almost.... or something like that It's old technique, and these are just my thoughts, but there are a lot of issues with public folders, replication and migrations to new versions.
