Hello,
From EMC I have created a Public Folder, now what are the right permissions to give to users and how users can benefit from it. ?
Thanks

Ideally share contacts and any important e-mails they receive or any important notice

Create an area for it, a folder for that purpose
And set Default or a group of people if necessary and give them either Author (if they should be able to create and edit and delete their own objects) or Reviewer if they just should be able to use it, like read-onlyJonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog:

Once a Public Folder is created and read permission is given to users, is the public folder added automatically to their Outlook ?

Basically a Public Folder is like a network share but on Outlook right ?
Why do Microsoft want to eliminate it as much as possible, does it have drawbacks ?

Yes, almost.... or something like that
It's old technique, and these are just my thoughts, but there are a lot of issues with public folders, replication and migrations to new versions.
And i don't think MS is developing anything new to PF, so they want to get rid of it
Like almost every administrator/consultant want :)
In your case i think they would point you to Sharepoint instead
Again... my thoughts of it :)
