Exchange 2010 and DNS SOA Expire Value
Hello All...............I am getting DNS SOA Expire Value? Warning while running a scan on my external domain.  RFC recommends to use 1209600 seconds.  How can I see what is the current value?  and Should I go ahead with the change?  Would it cause any issues? Any downtime?

Hi Junkie,

An SOA record is a Start of Authority. Every domain must have a Start of Authority record at the cutover point where the domain is delegated from its parent domain. The Expire Value setting tells each slave server how long it is allowed to continue giving out authoritative replies after it has no longer heard from the master server.

You can use DNS Manager to see and change the value, it will not cause the issue and no downtime. As below:

Best regards,

Thanks for the reply; appreciate it.

Thanks for explanation.

I want to do this for my external domain which is handled by my ISP.  So, can you guide me on following:

1.  How to verify the current SOA Expiration?

2.  What should I mention to my ISP for the change that is in Seconds or Minutes or Hours or Days?
