Exchange 2010 error
Hi,
I have installed new Exchange Server 2010 in Active Directory site called Site-B. Site-B has own DC which holds also GC. Both servers (DC and Exchange) are running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise R2 SP1.
After Exchange installation everything worked alright, but when I tried install SP1 for Exchange then setup during installation failed with error that could not start Exchange Services.
I used Exchange Management Troubleshooter and I discovered that my problem is written in this Microsoft´s KB:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028305
I also found this website:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2010/02/04/3409289.aspx
I followed the instruction-everything in the system is as should be according those manuals, but still have the same problem.
ERRORS:
1/ when I tried start EMC or EMS I got this error:
VERBOSE: Connecting to myexchangeserver.domain.local
[myexchangeserver.domain.local] Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : The WinRM client cannot proc
ess the request. It cannot determine the content type of the HTTP response from the destination computer. The content t
ype is absent or invalid. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.
+ CategoryInfo : OpenError: (System.Manageme....RemoteRunspace:RemoteRunspace) [], PSRemotingTransportExc
eption
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : PSSessionOpenFailed
2/ When I want to start Exchange services like MS Exchange Information Store etc. I got this error:
Windows could not start the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service on myexchangeserver.
Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.
EventID is 7000
I get this error everytime when I try start some Exchange service which is down-for example IMAP4, Mail Submition and others.
From the main services I have running only SMTP-> MS Transport service.
Could you someone give me and idea how I have to fix it, please? Thanks.

Hi,
For WinRM issue you must see below post to troubleshoot this.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/exchange2010/thread/51b9f958-0ed4-45d4-a0f4-b853f0ade2e2
For the services does not start is looking issue of time out issue with you DC/GC from Exchange 2010 Box, to increase time out value , Go into Regedit->HKLM->System->Current_Control_Set->Create a New DWORD Value->ServicePipeTimeOut->Value=60000=Decimal.
You can increase value according to your requirement ..
Test it and update the status.

Hi,
registry update did not help. I was also calling to Microsoft, but they are working on it 2 days withou success. I suppose that the main problem will be on IIS, but I am not really sure and also I have no idea how to fix it... :-/

Hi
Maybe you can try this way.
Besides the wsmsvc.dll in the applicationHost.config file, have you also located the kerbauth entry under <globalModules>?
<add name="WSMan" image="D:\Windows\system32\wsmsvc.dll" />
<add name="kerbauth" image="D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Bin\kerbauth.dll" />
Please enable the failed request tracing in IIS, reproduce the issue, and then monitor the related traces in the log

Hi,
I have located those two records in <globalModules>. I did this check immediately when I discovered the problem. I will try your link with II7 config. I think that problem will be somewhere on IIS... I will report the result later.Petr Weiner

Hi tried to check IIS, but without success. Microsoft guy called me that I have to remove Exchange Server from organization handly (delete instalation on the server handly) and also edit AD via ADSI... (remove info about Exchange from AD).
I´m going to do backup of AD and server and then hope that I will be successfull. I will leave the memo here when it will be done.

Hi,
I find the solutin and fix it before Microsoft (they recommend me the same thing I did)
1/ I stopped all exchange service on the machine, remove them from registry-below is the manual from:
http://msgsense.com/2011/01/18/manually-uninstall-last-exchange-2010-server-from-organization/
WARRNING: IF YOU ARE OTHER EXCHANGE SERVERS IN YOUR ORGANIZATION YOU CAN DO ONLY POINTS 1-18! YOU MUST NOT DO CHANGES IN THE ACTIVE DIRECTORY AS IS WRITTEN IN THIS TOPIC.
I WILL WRITE HOW TO REMOVE ONLY THE ONE EXCHANGE SERVER FROM AD at the end of this page.
Prepare for Manual Un-Installation:
1. Take System State Backup of your Active directory
2. Take Exchange Database Flat file Copy (OR) Backup
3. Make a Note of All your Mailbox Database names, Organization names, MRM Details, MRM Retention Tag Details, MRM Retention Policy Details, OWA Mailbox Policy details, Exchange Active sync Mailbox Policy details, Email Address Policy Details, Transport
Rules, Journal Rules, Send/Receive Connector Details, Global Settings, UM Settings etc.
4. Run ExBPA Report and Export the Report for future reference.
5. Go to Registry Editor and Export “My Computer” as Registry backup.
Remove Binaries, Registry from Exchange Server:
1. Go to Exchange 2010 Server
2. Make Sure Exchange management Console and Exchange Management Shell are Closed.
3. Go to Services.msc
4. Right Click on “Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service”.
5. Go to Properties.
6. Stop the Service. Make the Startup type “Disabled”
7. Click ok.
8. Stop and Disable All the Exchange Related Services below in the same method.
Microsoft Exchange Address Book
Microsoft Exchange Anti-spam Update
Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync
Microsoft Exchange File Distribution
Microsoft Exchange Forms-Based Authentication
Microsoft Exchange IMAP4
Microsoft Exchange Information Store
Microsoft Exchange Mail Submission Service
Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Assistants
Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication Service
Microsoft Exchange Monitoring
Microsoft Exchange POP3
Microsoft Exchange Protected Service Host
Microsoft Exchange Replication Service
Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access
Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer
Microsoft Exchange Server Extension for Windows Server Backup
Microsoft Exchange Service Host
Microsoft Exchange Speech Engine
Microsoft Exchange System Attendant
Microsoft Exchange Throttling
Microsoft Exchange Transport
Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search
Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging
Microsoft Search (Exchange Server)
Refer to:
Overview of Services Installed by Exchange Setup
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee423542.aspx
9. Restart the Exchange Server.
10. Go to Registry Editor.
11. Navigate to the following registry entries and delete them.
COMPUTER ->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ->SOFTWARE -> MICROSOFT -> EXCHANGE
COMPUTER ->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ->SOFTWARE -> MICROSOFT -> EXCHANGESERVER
COMPUTER ->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ->SYSTEM ->CURRENTCONTROLSET ->SERVICES ->MSEXCHANGE* (Everything Starts with MSExchange)
COMPUTER -> HKEY_CURRRENT_USER -> SOFTWARE -> MICROSOFT -> EXCHANGESERVER
11. Open Windows Explorer.
12. Navigate to %Program Files%Microsoft
13. Rename “Exchange Server” Folder as “Old Exchange Server”
14. Restart the Exchange Server.
15. Download the Windows Installer Clean up utility from the below link
http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe
16. Install it in the Exchange Server and Open it.
17. Remove the Microsoft Exchange Related Products. Ex.
Microsoft Exchange 2007 Enterprise Anti-Spam Signature
Microsoft Exchange 2007 Enterprise Block List Update
Microsoft Exchange 2007 Standard Anti Spam-filter Update
Microsoft Exchange Client Language Pack
Microsoft Exchange Server
Microsoft Full Text Indexing Engine for Exchange
Microsoft Exchange Full text indexing Services
18. Restart the Exchange Server.
2/ I did all 18th steps as is written in the manual then we have removed the exchange handly from the machine.
3/ Now it is time to remove the Exchange server from Active Directory (best practise-remove this record from primary DC (first installed DC in organization) and force the replication process.
Delete the object written below:
Start ADSIEdit.msc and navigate to CN=Configuration, CN=Services, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN=<Your Organization Name>, CN=Administrative Groups, CN= <Exchange 2010 Administrative Group>, CN=Servers, CN=<Server Name>, and
then delete the server object.
4/ Force the replication and wait and check if it is done.
5/ install new Exchange 2010 Server (best practise: install the server with new FQDN (do not use the old one))Petr Weiner

Anil,
Thank you for your detailed suggestion. I had migrated from Exchange 2003 (server name AJFEX01) to Exchange 2010 (AJFEX2010) about a year ago. I never felt 100% confident that I properly removed the old Exchange Server. Thank you for including the instructions
on removing a dead exchange. I verified the old server did not appear in Start ADSIEdit.msc and navigate to
CN=Configuration, CN=Services, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN=<Your Organization Name>, CN=Administrative Groups, CN= <Exchange 2010 Administrative Group>, CN=Servers, CN=<Server Name>,
However would the entry below have any impact?
ADSI > Configuration > CN=Configuration > CN=Services > CN=Microsoft Exchange > CN=AJFUSA > CN=Connections
CN=SMTP (AJFEX01-35E21F21-912E-2C1F-8DCD-538509CAEA43}) mailGateway
