Exchange 2010 install different domain
We have two child domains underneath our root. Child domain 1 is where our Exchange 2007 servers are currently installed in. Child domain 2 is where all of the user accounts and mailboxes currently reside. We are planning to move to Exchange 2010 and would like to install the 2010 servers into Child domain 2 and eventually decomission Child domain 1. Any concerns with this approach? Anyone done this before?

I don't believe shouldn't be an issue; I've done something similar between 2003 > 2007 moving from a child domain to the root domain. Mail routing should be at the site level, not domain level and schema and attributes are forest-wide. SteveSteve Goodman Check out my Blog for more Exchange info or find me on Twitter

Agree with Steve, it shouldn't be a problem. Cheers,Gulab | MCITP: Exchange 2010-2007 | Skype: Gulab.Mallah | Blog: www.ExchangeRanger.Blogspot.com

Hi, Both domain1 and domain2 have installed exchange 2007 and all the mailboxes are located in domain2. What's your exchange 2007 used for in domain1? There would be no problem you access exchange 2010 from domain1 and domain2Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
