Elapsed Time: 00:24:25IIS is installed and I have had no luck finding anything in FAQ's or other forums about this. Maybe I am missing something. The server is running MS Server 2008 R2, 4Gb memory, will only be used for Exchange 2010. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If the server is not operational yet, I wouldn't waste my time trying to fix the issue. Rather re-install the OS and try again. Something might have gone wrong during the initial setup.Casper Pieterse,

Hi there
I have had exactly the same problem installing Exchange 2010 on a Server 2008 R2 DC.
I have resolved by re-installing all the Exchange prerequisites using
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354.aspx#WS08R2
even though on previous servers I have set up did not require this. After rebooting from the pre-req installs, I then re-ran the Exchange setup and this completed successfully.
Hope this helps you as your post was the only one I found with exactly the same problem
Good luck!

The Exchange 2010 Installation Wizard misses the "Remote Server Admin Tools -> Role Admin Tools -> Web Server (IIS) Tools" as the prerequisit of H/T Server.
Please see "Error at the last step of first Ex2010 HT installation" http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrdeploy/thread/3210ea06-7dcb-4344-950e-dacd9fbc2472
Thank you very much Aaron.
