Exchange 2010 resource mailbox not sending response to meeting requests
I am migrating mailboxes from Exchange 2007 (SP2) to Exchange 2010 SP2. I have migrated one resource (room) mailbox yesterday, but it is no longer sending a response when a meeting request is sent to it. The meeting is showing in the resource's
calendar, however.
I have checked the settings according to this article
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2005631
I have seen some people with this issue elsewhere who have found that moving the mailbox to a different database solves the issue, but that doesn't address the cause.Views expressed do not represent those of my employer.

Hello,
When this resource mailbox has been moved to Exchange 2010, I suggest you check whether you have checked this option on this resource mailbox:
"Enable the Resource Booking Attendant. The Resource Book Attendant enables the resource mailbox to process requests and cancellations automatically"
If you have enabled thsi, but still cannot get response, I suggest you run this command "Get-CalendarProcessing -identity Resource mailbox| fl" to check the configuration on the resource mailbox.
Thanks,
Evan Liu

When you create one new room mailbox on Exchange 2010 SP2, will this issue occur?
If this issue not occur on new created mailbox, I suggest you follow these steps to have a try:
<1> Disable the resource mailbox
<2> Reconnect the resource mailbox
<3> re-configure on the resource mailbox, then check this issue occur or not?

I created a new room mailbox in the same database with the same result. Views expressed do not represent those of my employer.

All the meetings are added on room mailboxes' calendar, but not send a response to users, right?
Please make sure your new created room mailbox has enabled resource booking attendant.
Use Get-MessageTrackingLog -Sender Resource@domain.com to check whether the mailbox has sent the response or not.

Well, my test resource is receiving the calendar items, but not adding them to its calendar and not responding. However, the resource booking attendant is enabled.
My existing resource mailbox DOES add meetings to its calendar. However, message tracking is showing no messages sent from the existing (transferred from Exchange 2007) mailbox.

What is the result of this command "Get-CalendarProcessing -identity "test resource" | fl"?
What client you used to send the meeting requests, OWA, Outlook or other tools?
You mean all the users (on Exchange 2010) have issue to book the resource mailbox?
I follow you configuration to test in my lab (Exchange 2010 Sp2), all is working well.

Hi,
There could be a problem with the Arbitration Mailbox handling the Approval process.
Run this command to check if you have all three of them
Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | ft Name,database,OrganizationalUnit
...If you do, see if moving them to a different database helps.
Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase "Some other DB"

Get-Mailbox -Arbitration
| ft Name,database,OrganizationalUnit
This resulted in listing all three arbitration mailboxes as residing on the database where my resource mailboxes have issues.
I've just moved the arbitration mailboxes to my other database on the same server, but no improvement in the result. Actually, the mailbox that just wasn't sending replies is now not showing the items on its calendar.

I am using Outlook 2010 SP1 to send meeting requests. Thus far I've only been testing with myself as the meeting organizer.

Hi,
Turn up some logging and restart the service MSExchangeMailboxAssistants
Example: Set-EventLogLevel "MSExchangeMailboxAssistants\Resource Booking Attendant" -Level expert

Evan,
Previously, I was just sending invites from Outlook 2010 (in cached mode). However, if I send the invite from OWA 2010, invites ARE processed.
Also of note, my Offline Address Book does not seem to be updating in Outlook 2010 for Exchange 2010 mailboxes.
I don't know if the two have anything to do with one another.Views expressed do not represent those of my employer.

I seem to have my Offline Address Book issue solved, but the Outlook 2010 resource invites are not getting responses yet.Views expressed do not represent those of my employer.

After working with Outlook 2007 & 2010 and other Outlook profiles, in addition to cached mode (after discovering that invites sent via OWA worked fine), it seemed to me that a difference between sending an invite from Outlook and one from OWA is the
message format.
Since invites sent from Outlook from other computers worked, it led me to look at what add-ins and other extensions of Office I might have installed that might be interfering with the format of the invites.
I wound up going to File>Options>Advanced>Developers>Custom Forms button, then Manage Forms...
The list of Personal Forms included a Form originating from livemeeting and another form from ShoreTel (our IP PBX). I don't know which one I deleted that did the trick, but my meeting requests are now processed normally.
From reading further now that I know the solution, it appears that the ShoreTel form "ShoreTel Appointment" causes the issue as this story indicates. If only I had known to research on this issue previously.
http://www.phillyexug.org/2011/08/21/how-custom-outlook-calendar-forms-can-cause-numerous-headaches
Looks like I should followup with ShoreTel to see if they have addressed the issue their form causes.
