I am trying to get this to work: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj673037(v=exchg.150).aspx basically the document says to create partner connectors and then you will be able send TLS secured email between 2 environments. But for whatever reason I cannot get it to work.

I always get the same error message: 550 571 Client Not Authenticated, if I select "Anonymous Users" on the receive connector, then it works but the email does not come through as "Authenticated" but rather as "Anonymous".

Any ideas?

Thanks for the response as always. My confusion came from using the "right" solution for the wrong reason. I had some confusions between MTLS and TLS (Required). 

I was trying to use the "Partner" Permissions Group in place of setting -TLSREquired $True on the connector itself. This was where i was going wrong. I Wanted to Force TLS and thought that connector type would do so. 

It doesn't make any sense now that i think about it to "Force TLS" by setting an Authentication Permission.  I am still un-clear on what exactly a "Partner" domain is.

They don't exactly make this clear.  The type configures permissions for the scenario.  Start here:

Read Receive Connector Types and Receive Connector Permissions, and click on the Receive connector permissions link, which lists all the permissions but doesn't tell you which ones are specific to Partner.

At least that's the way I understand it.

Please use the below command to check the receive connector settings:

Get-ReceiveConnector <Connector Identity> | Format-List

Also please add some details for further analysis.
