I am running exchange 2013 on my server and one of the Global updates requirements are that I be a member of the following groups Schema Admins and Enterprise Admins groups. Which I am. Why am I getting this error?

Are you sure you are logged on with a domain account? It has happen more than once to me that I got a local logon on a member server (you must login ad domain\account rather than account if the same username is present locally, like administrator).Magnus Bjrk mailmaster.se/blog

yes 100% positive logged in as domain\user account. also tried running as administrator. same errors.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Setup has detected that the computer youre attempting to install Exchange 2013 on is an Active Directory domain controller. Installing Exchange 2013 on a domain controller isnt recommended.

Are you installng on a DC? If, yes, I'd recommend not doing that. Invest in another server of consider virtualising.Sukh
