Exchange 2013 Back Pressure

Hi all,

Does any one know how to confirm if Exchange 2013 CU8 has back pressure enabled? And how to enable or disable back pressure accordingly.

The EdgeTransport.exe.config file does not have the same settings as the equivalent in Exchange 2010.

The file in Exchange 2013 does not have the lines to show if back pressure is enabled, or the versionbuckets entries.

For example, in Exchange 2010, the EdgeTransport.exe.config file has the "EnableResourceMonitoring" entry which shows if back pressure is enabled. The file in Exchange 2013 does not have this line.

I know that changing back pressure settings aren't recommended, but need to do some specific testing.

Thanks

Al

Andy,

Thanks for the link, I had seen that article  previously. The article references lines in the EdgeTransport.exe.config file that don't even exist in file on the Exchange 2013 servers I have as per my post.

Thanks

Hi QAlexis,

I have checked my exchange 2013 server, the "EnableResourceMonitoring" entry and "versionbuckets" entries are all exist in the EdgeTransport.exe.config file.

It is enabled by default, I recommend you check the file again.

In addition, the article which you had seen, it also referred to these entries :

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201658(v=exchg.150).aspx

Back pressure configuration options

Key   name

Default   value

EnableResourceMonitoring

true

ResourceMonitoringInterval

00:00:02 (2 seconds)

Niko,

Thanks for your reply. I have checked an Exchange 2013 CU7 multi role server, and yes, the EdgeTransport.exe.config file does have the entries referred to in the TechNet article.

The server I am looking at is Exchange 2013 CU8 multi role, and the file definitely does not include the entries. This may be a CU8 thing. If I get access to another CU8 server I will check the file.

On the basis that the file may be different in Exchange 2013 CU8, can anyone assist with my original post ?

Thanks

QAlexis
