Exchange 2013 CU8 upgrade - Setup problem

Hello everybody,

I'm upgrading from Exchange CU7 to CU8, I got a DAG with two servers.

I did an upgrade friday of the first server of the DAG : no problem, it works well.

I tried to upgrade my second server this morning and I'm blocked during the installation : "Step 8 of 17 : Languages", it's at 0% for about 1h now.

What could be the problem and the step to do in order to fix this ? Or have I just to wait ?

Thanks,

Hi again,

It's still blocked on step 8 at 0%, and I don't know if it's a good idea to kill the setup process in task manager...

Thanks,

Don't kill it.  Let it run, are you running the install from a local path or a unc path?  I always try and run setup from a local path bc I never have good luck with unc paths.

Make sure that you dont have any anti-virus software running on the Exchange Server when you perform the installation. If you do, stop the real time scanning during the installation and activate it again when you are done.

Hi Sunaaa,

Thank you for your question.

If we update the first server of the Exchange DAG without any problems and we update the second server of the DAG with same steps. We just wait until complete update. If there are any errors when we update, we could post error information to ibsexc@microsoft.com for our troubleshooting.

If it was still blocked at present(which has been passed more 20 hours), we could kill it and update again. And collect application log and event log for us to troubleshoot.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim

Hello everybody,

Ok, I wait about 3hours and the setup finally continued to install ! But now I have a new problem, after having took out my server of maintenance mode, I'm not able to reach my ECP anymore, I get the message "500 Unexpected Error :( An error occurred and your request couldnt be completed. Please try again".

I must admit that I don't know exactly why it's doing this, I already got this message after updating my first server, I believed that by upgrading the second one it will be fixed but not at all.

Do someone has an idea ?

Does OWA load? did you make any customizations to the ecp directory (security or otherwise) to the ecp dir?
