Exchange 2013 mail flow

Dear all,

I have a question about using the nameserver with my exchange domain so here is the information in short

I want to : - Be able to receive emails from multiple aliases and accounts into my exchange server that is located on 8X.2X.X.X the service is fully running and I am able to telnet to that address over ports 25 110 140 etc.

- I want the exchange to be separate from the mydomain.de domain which already has email service (running) but I want the emails that are sent out from my exchange account to go out as x@mydomain.de

More info :

Domains mydomain.de and mydomain.eu are nameservers hosted online.. mydomain.de points to the existing mail client on the hosting and mydomain.eu points to my mailserver on 8X.2X.X.X

I have made my private ActiveDirectory DomainControler and named the domain mydomain.de , Ive added another server (exchange server) to it and now my domain (named also mydomain.de) and the users in my domain have the addresses X@mydomain.de , but am unable to send emails out.

I can forward mails sent to .DE to .EU but if my mailbox name is for example test and it is @mydomain.de will the mails sent to test@mydomain.eu arrive to my exchange ?

My exchange server is using my domain controller as DNS.. how can i prevent conflicts in name resolution for my local domain and the domain online with the same name..

Is it possible to do the above? Maybe using receive/send connectors? If yes can you please help me set this up?

For more information feel free to ask and I will respond promptly.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Shad -

I want to make sure that I understand your requirements before advising on the best path forward.

It is possible in Exchange Server to have multiple SMTP domains configured in a single Exchange organization.  Users can receive on email addresses from multiple domains, and still reply from a single domain.

In your example, you mention setting up a separate AD Domain and a separate Exchange Server.  Is this a specific business requirement?  Do you need to segregate mail sent to mydomain.de from mydomain.eu?

If you do not need to segregate the mail for legal or ethical reasons, then this scenario is easier than it may seem on the surface.  If you do need to segregate mail, it can absolutely be done, it just takes a few more steps since two Exchange orgs will be in scope.

Hi Gary

Thanks for replying so quickly.

Yes i have been asked to set up the ADDC and MX separately for to me unknown reasons.

Let me clarify a little bit more

lets say j.doe@mydomain.de already exists and is in use and hosted online -> in this case mydomain.de resolves to 21X.2X.XX.XX

I want mails sent to that user not to be saved (or saved doesnt matter if they stay) on that pop3 account, but instead forwarded to the exchange account which will be :

j.doe@mydomain.de -> in this case j.doe@mydomain.de is the inbox name and user on my exchange server which is the part of a local domain named mydomain.de completely unrelated to the online hosted name service with the same name.

Now i can either point the mydomain.eu name to the external IP of my exchange server or i can add the below to mkprocon.de name so that mx.mkprocon.de points to my  servers ip

 A  mx  8X.2X.7.X

If you are willing i can add you to skype or any other chat service so i can better explain what you need..this i would grately appreciate since i've been working on this for so long and i always hit a wall somewhere
