Exchange 2013 offline addressbook

Hi together,

after Migration from Exchange 2003 to 2013 all is fine exept:

testing the global addressbook with get-recipients it contains the right member.

but the offline addressbook doesn't show anything.

get-offlinelineaddrressbook | update-offlineaddressbook -verbose returns nothing!

there is also nothing to see in oab logfile.

the oab belongs to the only existing Mailbox database not to the mailboxes (which is common I guess).

get-offlineaddressbook also says lastnumerofrecords=1. This is toooooo less.

I habe no idea where to search...

Have you performed a move of the OAB generation to Exchange 2013? If not, have a look at this:

1. Open EMC, navigate to Organization Configuration->Mailbox.

2. Select the tab Offline Address Book tab(right pane), Right click and select Move and select the mailbox server to which you wish to move the OAB and click on Move button.

3. If you have multiple OABs available, perform step 1 and 2 for all of them..

Martin,

thanks for answer but doing this move-request using powershell (Exchange 2013!) I get the message that the Mailbox is already in the target database

The move you want to achieve is not a mailbox move, its just a move of where the service of generating the OAB is performed, we want 2013 to generate the OAB. If you want to use PS run the following command:

Move-OfflineAddressBook -Identity "My OAB" -Server SERVER01

Martin,

this was Exchange 2010. move-Mailbox is not valid in Exchange 2013.

In Exchange 2013 you have to move the Mailbox responsible for oab Generation. But I already did that.

Yes, you can stil move the OAB to another server in Exchange 2013, even if the link I posted was for 2010. Here is the correct reference:

If you run Get-OfflineAddressBook, what does the properties LastGeneratingData and AddressLists give you?

lastgeneratingdata return the right Arbitration Mailbox and the right server

addresslist Returns the correct global addresslist

So I doublechecked all this a couple of times ;-(

Ok, does the event logs contain any events regarding address lists or OABs?

Hi,

From your description, I recommend you check if there is any warnings on the mailbox server that is responsible for generating the offline address book. And then troubleshoot this issue via the warning information.

Hope this can be helpful to you.

Best regards,

What is the CU level you are running on Exchange 2013?

What are the OAB files you see on Mailbox Server apart from .LZX, can you list those file names.

Files look good, time stamp looks good too.
Before doing anything else, I would like to know if you have any issue downloading the OAB or newly created users aren't visible in Outlook?

Fixed it this Minute!

At least easy like nearly always:

I just created a new global addresslist and used this gal in the oab.

now it's fine.

I then reassigned the old gal and it's again an empty oab.

Testing the recipientfilter (get-recipientfilter -recipientpreviewfilter) of the (non working) gal it return exact the same recipient list than the newly created gal.

I don't understand that but ...who cares!

Thanks to all for help!
