Exchange 2013 unable to relay to external adress

I'm having a hard time getting Exchange relaying the mail from my applications to external domains.

I have setup a recieve connector as Hub Transport Custom connector.

  • Externally secured (for example, with IPsec)
  • Exchange Servers
  • Anonymous Users

I have no clue what i did wrong.. I can send to internal Accepted domains but not outside of my company.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

Hi ,

Then we need to enable the protocol logging on the receive connectors which would help us to understand that your application servers are utilizing that custom connector to relay emails or not.

At the same time we can able to find out the exact errors on the log that could occur during the communication between your application servers and exchange server.

Moreover the important thing is to have the individual ip address of the application servers on the "remote network settings" in the custom receive connector which would make the exchange to prefer that receive connector to receive emails from application servers.

Check out this blog on configuring External relays.  I find it very helpful when I go to do these types of things.

http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-2013-configure-smtp-relay-connector/

Pay specific attention to the end where you have to give the connector the rights the proper rights via powershell. (chances are this is all you have to do, but just go through the whole thing to make sure nothing was missed).

Hi kevin,

Thank you for your question.

In addition Niths suggestion, we could make sure the IP address of application was not  included in default receive connector.

Then we could restart the service of Microsoft Exchange Transport to check if it is work.

We could refer to the following link:

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim
