Exchange 5.5 Information Store won't start (error: 3355443752)
I have an NT4 server running Exchange 5.5 SP4 with HP Dataprotector. I am using it to do an offlinemailbox restore in a lab environment. I have built the server identicle to the old one where the tape was taken from. I performed a restore of the MDB using HPDP and firstrecieved "Information Store Fails to Start: 4294965882". I then deleted the RESTORE IN PROGRESS key and followed the procedures starting at step 2) in this KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q224977 Instead of recieving the 1011 error when trying to start the Information Store, I recievederror 3355443752. This KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/231299/en-us tells me that the problem is due to me running ISINTEG before starting the information store service. I have not ran this command as of yet and am not using Legato NetWorker Businesssuite Module. Please help. Cheers, Mat

Hello Matyb, Do you have only 5.5 servers in your network? If you have any 2003, you can follow the hint suggested by Paul Robichaux at http://www.jsifaq.com/SF/Tips/Tip.aspx?id=11222and try to mount the database in a Recovery Storage Group in your 2003 server. In the other hand, about your exchange 5.5 recovery process, here are some questions: - have you recovered your dir.edb? - After you recover you database is it in a consistent state (eseutil /mh and look for "clean shutdown")? - have you set up the same site name / organization and server name in this recovered server? - Which are the service running at this moment? - Have you run isinteg -patch before trying to start the database (IS)? Thank you Anderson for you're reply. We don't have 2003 available only Server 2000, running exchange 5.5. - have you recovered your dir.edb? It was restored into c:\exchsrvr\dsadata I did a full restore of MDB and used the exact same procedures with two other tapes which worked fine. - After you recover you database is it in a consistent state (eseutil /mh and look for "clean shutdown")? I ran the eseutil /mh pathname\priv.edb and the message i recieved was "the operation was completed successfully" - have you set up the same site name / organization and server name in this recovered server? Site name\org name\server name are all the same - Which are the service running at this moment? Everything except for the Informationi Store and its dependency - Have you run isinteg -patch before trying to start the database (IS)? No I did not.
