Hi,Exchange Server 2003 does not run on 64-bit editions of Windows Server 2003. Exchange Server 2003 management tools for remote administration can be installed on a computer running supported versions of Windows such as Windows Server 2003, or Windows Server 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4). Exchange Server 2003 management tools cannot be installed on a computer running Windows Vista. You can use the media of Exchange Server 2007 to perform an installation of the Exchange Management Console and Exchange Management Shell on Windows Server 2008. These components do not require a license for installation.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6be38633-7248-4532-929b-76e9c677e802&displaylang=enHope this will help you !!!Anil

Hi,We do not have Exchange 2003 admin tools for Windows Server 2008.I recommend you to install Exchange System Manager on Windows XP or Windows Vista. Besides, you also can use remote desktop to connect the Exchange Server. Okay, let me jump here to make the things clear.... Mike: I agree with Xiu, you need to use Windows XP or Vista to use Exchange 2003 management tools because it can not be installed on Windows 2008. Anil: It is not recommended to create Exchange 2003 mailbox with Exchange 2007 management tools and moreover Mike doesn't have Exchange 2007 servers deployed in his environment so there isn't any use of Exchange 2007 Management Tools and better to use ESM on XP or Vista or take the remote control of Exchange 2003 server as Xiu said. "Exchange 2003 mailboxes can be edited or removed with Exchange 2007 tools, but cannot be created by Exchange 2007 tools." Read below article for further detail on when to use Exchange 2007 management tools with Exchange 2003 servers. This is an excellent example of Microsoft providing a technical "solution" with little consideration as to practicality in a real working environment or the bad practices/bad precedents the "solution" encourages. Go way back to Exchange 5. Admin clients were installed on workstations. When you upgraded to 5.5, you had to find every one of those older admin clients on scores of workstations or it could cause problems with certain types of objects. In good environments, ALL workstations - even for admins - are standardized. We don't install admin tools on workstations, we don't logon to our workstations with admin credentials. We have a server or two with all the admin tools where we can RDP to perform this administration. In some places, like some military networks I work on, placing admin tools on a workstation is strictly prohibited and beyond our authority to change. I found this article because we are installing a new WSUS server. We typically use these as general admin boxes and load all the tools on them. We'd like to install it as Win2K8, and we'd like to use it to admin our E2K3 server and create accounts using ADUC. We can't. Thanks Microsoft.
