Exchange Autodiscover Online Archive Folder Issue
I've enabled online archive for a user's mailbox in our organization. The online archive is created successfully, and we are able to access it through OWA. However, the Outlook client will not open the online archive mailbox. We're
using Office Professional Plus, so that's not the issue. When I run "test-outlookwebservices -identity:myemail@mydomain.com", I get four warnings:
ID 1012 XML>Unknown Node:AlternativeMailbox AlternativeMailbox Line:http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/outlook/responseschema/2006a

Every other test-outlookwebservices test passes. The autodiscover feature works for the main mailbox, public folders, etc, just not the online archive folder. Any ideas? I'm really stumped!

Hi smcnapster1,
Please check below requirements of the online achrive folder:
A Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 account is required. Online Archive must be enabled by your Exchange administrator. Online Archive policies are available only when using Microsoft Outlook 2010 as part of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010, a Microsoft
Exchange Server 2010 account, and that your Exchange administrator has enabled Online Archive. Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 is available through volume licensing only.
And then check the autodiscover service URL, such as:https://FQDN/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
Regards!

No. That's not the problem. Online archiving is working--it's accessible in OWA. And we do have Office Professional Plus volume licensing installed. Autodiscover service does respond.
The problem is identified in the test-outlookwebservices results. Something more complicated is going on.

Hi smcapster1,
It sounds odd.
How many users have the issue, all or some of them?
How about create a new profile on other client end?
How about creating a new user account mailbox with achriving enabled, and then make a test?
If the issue still exists, could you please post the exactly error on the client?
We also could check the outlook log, and up the log level on the server to confirm the issue.
Hope more information from you.
Regards!
Gavin

All users have this issue.
I've tried creating a new Outlook mail profile, but it doesn't solve the problem.
I've created a new user mailbox, even a new mailbox database, and it still doesn't solve the problem.
Client doesn't display any error, just the server as described in my original post. The client gets an XML answer that includes the online archive folder mailbox info. But it's the same info that's returning an error when running test-outlookwebserivces
on the server. Seems like a server problem, no?

Hi smcnapster,
Could you please confirm which version of oultook do you use? Check whether it is professional plus.
How about run EXBPA on the server, any useful information?
Do you mean the archive folder does not appear in the outlook; or when you open the folder, and can not open the content?
Regards!

Outlook 2010 Professional Plus.
EXBPA has no results of any concern.
The Online Archive folder does not appear in Outlook at all.

Hi smcnapster,
Maybe the issue caused by this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/983473
I would suggest that you could use other new office to make a test, if it is caused by that, I would suggest that you call office support to turn to some help.
Which version of exchange do you use, I would update it to the latest version.
How about test email auto configuration on the client end, confirm the autodiscover service is good from the client end.
Or browsing from client -
https://mail.enpowercorp.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml ,sometimes the clients could not get the autodiscover service well would cause the issue.
Confirm using nslook up FQDN could resolve out the internal server ip address, sometimes the missing record also could cause the issue.
Regards!

Turns out it was an issue with Outlook. Tech support had me uninstall Office 2010 Professional Plus and reinstall the trial version from the Microsoft site. The online archive folders now appear. It still doesn't answer the question about
why I'm getting warnings on Exchange 2010 when running test-outlookwebservices. Tech support said that was normal and okay. Oh well...
