Hello,I have a client running Exchange Server 2003 and Outlook 2007. One of the users is under the impression that when they create an appointment and invite attendees on foreign mail systems, that when the attendees accept the appointment that it will update her information page for the appointment. Is this something that should work? Under what conditions would accepting an appointment on a foreign system provide feedback on the sending system? Are there tools or resources that would allow this to function? Can you point me toward a link that discusses tne exchange calendaring functions so I can study up on this?Thanks,jeff

Hi Jeff-You're correct that if someone in a foreign mail system accepts an invite the tracking info in the organizer's calendar will get updated. This happens by way of the accept/tentative/decline emails that you get back when you send an invite out.Active Directory, 4th Edition - www.briandesmond.com/ad4/

So the outlook system parses this reply and updates the calendar of the organizer automatically? If so, what could interfere with this process? We have tested this and it is not working in our environment. Also, will this only work if the recipient has a flavor of outlook?Thanks,Jeff

Sorry for the long delay, I'm trying to catch up on my non-immediate projects as fast as I can, but immediate projects keep getting in the way. :-)All types of different mail systems. I assume that it has to be outlook for any functionality as most other products don't have calendaring. I don't think any of our outside people are on Groupwise. We block OOA, NDRs, and rule generated mail at our exchange server, so that may be part of the problem as well. We are running an Exchange 2003 server and Outlook 2007, and I'm not horribly surprised that the system isn't working for us, but I am hoping that someone can save me a whole bunch of studying and research and tell me to check the box, throw salt over my shoulder, and everything will work perfectly. :) Anyone have a place for me to start troubleshooting this? Basically, I have one user who wants to use this feature and she assures me it works for everyone else in the whole world. She wants to create an appointment, include external recipients, have them accept the appointment, their calendar updates, her calendar updates with their acceptance and have changes also post updates to her appointment status.
