Exchange Configuration
I have a client running Small Business Server2003 R2, no ISA. They currently do not host their own e-mail on Exchange. We use all other features of Exchange, public folders, calendars, etc. The reason they don't host their mail is that they are in the securites business andALL of their mail MUST pass through a mail server at their home office in another state for compliance requirments. All I know about the corporate mail server is that it runs on Linux...We setup each usersOutlook 2003 using all normal POP3 settings except theoutbound port is 9901to retrieve the mail from the Linux server. The problem with this is that when usingOWA to justcheck e-mail, current mail is not in the Exchange server unless Outlook is open on theworkstation. We would now like to take full advantage of Exchange, ie Direct Push to Mobile 6 etc.I know that we couldretrievethe mail OK using the POP3 connector in Exchange. This would retrieve the mail from the mail server, but HOW do I make our local Exchange server SEND all mail OUT through the remote SMTPserver for compliance?I hope this makes sense!! I know how to deal with Exchange on a standard Small BusinessServer, but this is different than anything I've ever had to deal with....Thanks in advance.Lee Johnson
