Yes, those are temporary Exchange transactions stored into transaction logs and later it will be committed to Exchange Database. But a full or incremental backup should delete the committed transaction logs and mailbox size limit can control the size of the data if you calculate it properly. Here are couple of references to understand the transaction logs and Information Store structure... http://www.msexchange.org/articles/Transaction-Logs-Lifeblood-Exchange.html http://www.msexchange.org/articles/Understanding-Exchange-Information-Store.html Here is an good understanding article for database size... http://www.msexchange.org/articles/Exchange-Databases-Disk-Consumption.html You can control the individual mailbox size by setting quota... http://www.petri.co.il/setting_mailbox_limits.htm Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

If backup fails and that would lead too many files left on the disk so is there any chance that would create any increase in Database(edb stm) size?
