I am trying to add some type of "title" or"description" attribute for my distrubtion lists. When a useropens up the GAL and views the DLs, I want them tobe ableto see descriptive information about the group without having to go into the properties, just from the default GAL view. There is a title column which I can fill in for users but there is no "title" attribute for DL's so that it canbe viewed in the GAL. I have played around with the Details template editor and added a "title" attribute to the"groups" but doesn't seem to work. I can view the new attribute in the properties of the group but no place where I can edit the information. It doesn't appear inin the EMC or in AD.Does anyone have any resolution for this? I hope this all makes sense, please let me know if I need to clear anything up. Thanks

Hi Chris,Yes, title or company attributes are not available for Groups in Active Directory.In this case you have only one standpoint "Display Name", you can define meaningful display name format of groups as per your requirement but this is helpful when you are building new environment and might be difficult for existing one to convert all DGs.Like, #COM-DEP-Type-Purpose, where # in prefix so all groups come at top in GAL, COM for Company name, DEP for department, Type, Purpose so that user can find in more efficient manner.Or need to open properties of group and need to check Notes field.Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

thank you, I might look at just changing the display names to be more descriptive. I did make a couple changes to the Details template editor for groups. I added the title and location fields. but the only place I see to edit that information after the template is edited is inside the GAL which says I do not have permissions to edit. You have any ideas on that? Or after I add fields to the template where I can edit that information besides the GAL?

Well, you can changeall informationin AD which will be reflected in GAL.
