Exchange Foundation Server
Are there any plans to produce a 'Foundation' version of Exchange, in a similar way to Server Foundation? It could be a useful product for small and very small businesses who can't afford the cost and complexity of Exchange Standard.Such a product would have the core email functionality without the enterprise level features likeUC, clustering etc.I'm keen to hear opinions on this.

Have you checked out Small Business Server? I'm not sure if that's the same as Server Foundation. But SBS has Exchange built in. Also if you dont want to use UC or clustering, you don't have to in the current releases either.Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Well, you can use Exchange Server Standard Edition with Standard CALs which does NOT provide some of the enterprise features like clustering and UM, MRM etc...
Check this article to see the features available with Standard Server Edition and CAL...

You can also go for SBS or EBS 2008 which is a set of Windows 2008 OS with Exchange, SQL etc servers in low price range...
