Exchange Free/Busy Issue
I have at least one user reporting that their Free/Busy information is not always accurate when others try to schedule appointments with her. I don't mean that the \\\\\ appears and there is no information at all, but that some items in her calendar appear blocked out and others do not. I have verified this to be the case by opening her calendar on my machine and at the same time starting to schedule an appointment with her. Sometime ALL of the calendar items appear, other times they do not. There is no pattern this that I can decipher (it's not all recurring items that disappear and reappear and it's not all non-recurring items. In fact, the view changes when I leave that appointment item open. We have tried running the /cleanfreebusy option with outlook, but this doesn't appear to help at all. The Exchange Server is 2003 with the latest patches. The clients vary and include Outlook 2000, 2003, OWA and Entourage and I haven't seen a pattern with them either. Suggestions?

If you have more than one public folder database, you'll want to make sure that the Schedule+Free/busy public folder is replicating properly. Once you are sure that the free/busy folder is consistent, and then I would use Outlook Web Access to view the free/busy data (availability). You can view the free/busy folder in ESM under folders (system folders) or via OWA http://<servername>/public/non_ipm_subtree/ If you are familiar with the Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store Viewer, you can use that to look into the free/busy messages with more detail. This folder has the same number of items no matter which server I look at. Is there another way to prove consistency?

Issue description: Free.Busy data on one user cant be fully displayed Check info: 1. Is the issue only reported on one user currently? 2. What did you mean about some items in her calendar appear blocked out? If so, what shows on those blocked timeslots, blank? 3. Is there any error or warning in the application log on your client PC or problematic users PC after reproduced issue? 4. Does problematic user have any issue on her client PC? 5. Could you reproduce the issue via OWA? 6. You have ran the /cleanfreebusy switch on the problematic client PC, right? please try to remove the free busy for problematic user on the URL which provided by Joseph, and run the switch on the problematic client again to republish

That is basically what I do. James' questions should lead you to a resolution or close to it. Joseph Durnal

Currently I've only confirmed this to be an issue with one user. For #2, I mean that some of her appointments appear in the scheduling person's view of her calendar, and others do not. #3. No errors. Nothing in the logs. #4. No known issues other than this. I haven't tried #5, but will. for #6, do you mean delete the entire item?

Republish the FB data for problematic user: a. Open system folders through URL http://server.domain.com/public/non_ipm_subtree b. Expand SCHEDULE + FREE BUSY folder->/o=Org_Name/ou=AG_Name folder c. You can see FB message for each user, find problematic users message. Please make sure theres not duplicate message for problematic user Subject of FB message: /cn=recipients/cn=AliasOfUser d. Move problematic users FB message to other location, and then user the /cleanfreebusy switch to republish the data e. Refresh the SCHEDULE + FREE BUSY folder to confirm that new message being generated [1-5 mins]. Then check the issue again

Hello all,I am having very similar issues - Exchange Server 2003, Outlook 2007 clients, and only 1 user (that I know of) is having the problems where her Free/Busy data just doesn't show up to other people. I can add her to a meeting request and nearly all of her time shows up as "free" when she's not actually free in her calendar. The odd thing is that she can run Outlook with the /cleanfreebusy switch and her free/busy data will show up perfectly for about 1/2 hour....I have tried James-Luo's suggestion of deleting the users FB data from the SCHEDULE+ FREE BUSY public folder, then having her run the /cleanfreebusy switch again. The same thing happend, it worked for 30 minutes, then back to nearly no data showing up for her FB. A few appointments do show up as busy, but most just don't show up for other people who are trying to schedule meetings with her. One question about theSCHEDULE+ FREE BUSY public folder - is it normal for the only email listed in it for each user to have an old date? I found that most user's email's date is the day the account was setup and they logged in for the first time. Is that normal?Any thing else I can try to resolve this? Thanks!
