Exchange Information store inaccessible
Hi forum I read a lot of threads but cannot solve my problem. I have my AD with different servers with different roles. If I try to open 'Manage Full Access Permission...' in Exchange Management Console from my administrative Server, I receive an error as follows: Exchange Information Store in server 'exmbs01.mycompany.com' is inaccessible. Please ensure that the network isconnected and that the Exchange Information Store is not stopped. It was running command 'Get-MailboxPermission -Identify'CN=mail@customer.com,OU=customer.com,OU=TTR,OU=mycompany.com,DC=mycompany,DC=com". Necessary to know: - If I try the same from other servers like (CAS) it works without problems - The service 'MS Exchange Information Store' on exmbs01.mycompany.com is running - From this server (administrative Server) I can ping exmbs01 and I can also connect per RDP - 2 weeks ago it was still possible, but since this days it brings the error - I made no changes. Maybe there are new windows updates... Can anybody help me to find the problem? Best regards Anacrusis

When you say administrative server you mean a non Exchange server with the Exchange mgmt tools installed? Are the SP and rollup version the same on the mgmt station and the Exchange servers?James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Hi Jamestechman Yes, on this "Admin"-Server I just access the AD and the management console, but no exchange roles are installed on it. I'm very new to exchange, but I checked Version now in Exchange Management Console -> About Exchange Server... ---------------------------------------------- Management Server Exchange Server 2007 Microsoft Corporation Version: 08.02.0301.000 EXMBS (Mailboxes) Exchange Server 2007 Microsoft Corporation Version: 08.02.0176.002 EXCAS (Client Access) Exchange Server 2007 Microsoft Corporation Version: 08.02.0254.000 ---------------------------------------------- I wonder that the access works no more since a couple of days and before it worked without problems... That's all off, your mgmt is running sp3, your mb role is sp2 and cas is sp2 ru4. They all need to be the same as far as whether or not this is causing the issue I can't say but as far as supportability all stations must be running the same. I can tell you with 2010 if the mgmt station has mismatch the console won't connect at all to Exchange. Plan to upgrade all your systems to sp3 ru 5. Hi Jamestechman Thank you for your very fast help0, I will update the machines. Can you please tell me 2 more things: - Is it critical to make this updates or does it normally goes fine? - The link above's just for the sp3, how can I find the correct updates for the others? I did not fiond a 'Check for Updates' - Function that shows me the next release... Best regards Anacrusis

For your SP2 machines you need to download SP3, after that install the RU in the link I gave above. As far as critical, they will include fixes and features, critical typically means vulnerabilities if you're speaking in the context of security.
