Exchange Journaling capturing OCS Instant Messaging?
During some e-discovery conversations the question of are instant messages captured if the recipients mailbox is being journaled?
I setup a couple of tests and so far what I am finding is that instant messages are not captured as part of Exchange Journaling on a mailbox, even if the user has save my call logs in the Outlook Conversation History folder.
Can someone confirm that?
Also, how are the instant messages transferred from the OCS client to the Outlook client? Is it strictly client to client, never going through a Exchange hub server, thus no chance at being journaled?
Thanks for any input...

OCS and Lync connect to the mailbox using MAPI, so I'm pretty sure it places data in the mailbox rather than sending it through transport.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
