Exchange License requirements for Edge Server
Hello,I am looking to implement an Exchange 2010 Server and have an Edge Transport Server as well to manage spam etc. Do I need to buy two Exchange Server licenses to do that?

You'll need the licenses. I would contact your sales rep for more detailed info if you have other licensing questions.

Greetings,Because, as Andy mentions, you will need the licensing to support the Exchange Edge role, depending on the costs involved you may find that another solution is more cost effective and a bit more productive for you. If your goal and responsibility is to maintain Exchange, than typically you want everything in house at your fingertips. If it isn't... you may look to a hosted solution for your anti-spam/anti-virus Edge-like work... and only manage the Exchange 2010 internal roles.Microsoft has hosted solutions you may appreciate or you may go with some other cloud oriented Edge solution. Completely up to you once you count the cost and see what adds up best.Hope that helps a bit.J. Peter BruzzeseTriple-MCSE, MCT, MCITP: MessagingExclusivelyExchange.com
