Exchange MBX calculator - How many GB?
We´re evaluating a migration from Lotus Notes 8 and after some analisys my mailboxes have:
> 10GB 15 Mailboxes
5 and 10GB 19 Mailboxes
1 and 5GB 168 Mailboxes
< 1GB 974 Mailboxes
After using the Exchange MBX calculator the results in disk space are:
Database Space Required 3067 GB
Log Space Required 81 GB
Database LUN Space Required 4217 GB
Log LUN Space Required - 101 GB
Restore LUN Space Required 984 GB
I´m confused about the real size i have to buy for storage...(monthly fee)
I have to buy all values summed? (=~7TB?)
Some other information about the project:
The sizes here are based on the size of the .NSF file and some people told me that after a conversion to MS Exchange 2010 the size will be 1.3 biggen than .NSF file, so my =~ 950GB Notes Database probably will be a 1.25TB Database on MS Exchange 2010, obviously,
we´ll take into account.
The HA will be on VMWare 4.and 1 operated and administered by the Datacenter we chosed
the Datacenter give me LUNs of 512GB in the Fujitsu Storage where my VMs are running

Backup will be managed using NetBackup Agent for MS Exchange under the contract of the datacenter

Hi
1.3 sounds OK to me..
But in fact you can't tell before, it depends on so many factors
Sometimes when I've done those migrations the mailboxes have been smaller in Exchange than it was in Domino, but most of the times it will be larger..
Whats the difference between:
Database Space Required
Database LUN Space Required
Don't forget that it shouldn't be filled up to 90% or more when you start, then get some more storage
Use the mailbox storage calculator, it's great!

what is your mailbox profile. in terms of emails sent/recieved per day. that will be required to calculate the logs size
and your backup frequency.
what were your inputs for below results. did you put the logs and database in the same disk ?
Database Space Required 3067 GB
Log Space Required 81 GB
Database LUN Space Required 4217 GB
Log LUN Space Required - 101 GB
Restore LUN Space Required 984 GBDhruv

We have no seerver installed, we have nothin at the moment
We´re evaluating and we don´t know how to plan the storage
The Datacenter will give 512 GB LUNs to VMWare and if i need i can have a 4TB single disk inside the OS, or i can have several Drive Letters of 512 GB each, i can shose whatever i want.
The problem still there, how many TB i have to buy? The above calculations are based on my current profile and the MBX calculator suggested those numbers and i don´t know how to divide disks nor how much TB i need.
To the OS, i think that´s irrelevant to separate LOGs, database, etc beucause the VMWare "hiddens" the details from me, am I right, therefore, the disk susbystsme is "invisible" to the OS, i can configure the way i want

Or else, order so that you can migrate at least 75% of the users and the order some more storage before completing the migration?
Then you will most likely have a create calculation and sizing of your environment
Use mount points instead of drive letters if you're going to have a lot of LUNs

It is not an option because out fiscal year will end and in december 2011 we plan the budget for entrire 2012 and i have to plan carefully because if the money ends.. the project sinks (-: I have to buy storage now with no option to increase
for 2 or 3 years.
Anyway, how many TB i have to buy, based on the XLS mailbox calculator?
Considering the suggestions:
Database Space Required 3067 GB
Log Space Required 81 GB
Database LUN Space Required 4217 GB
Log LUN Space Required - 101 GB
Restore LUN Space Required 984 GB
I have to buy? 4271GB? or i have to buy 4271GB+3067GB? or i have to buy 3067GB+4217GB+984GB?
