Exchange Management Cannot cannot found any GC
Dear all, I have question here. In my place, we have 1 root, 1 child (GC-A) and exchange 2007 SP1 server in Site A. Then, after a year, we decided to put another GC-B in other site,Site B. So, we think that if our GC-A down then Exchange will automatically recognize and fail-over to GC-B, but what's happening is it will not fail-over to GC-B. When GC-A down, we cannot login using management console and the error is exchange not found any GC in forest. FYI, I check in Exchange Management Console > Server Configuration > Server > System Settings > Global Catalog being used by Exchange : Only GC-A SO, my question is either Exchange 2007 will automatically recognize any new GC in forest or not? If yes, what configuration that I need to check? If no, what step I need to perform to able Exchange detect my new GC? Thanks for your time. :)carckermania

Exchange should automatically detect newDCs & GCs in-site and out-of-site, this AD topology discovery process runs every 15 minutes and you can see an event in application log 2080 with source MSExchange ADAccess. Are other DCs/GCs in same AD Site? If yes then you need to verify the communication between that GCs/DCs & Exchange server on port 3268 & 389. You can increase diagnostic logging of MSExchange ADAccess\Topology to see if it has any problem. How to Change Logging Levels for Exchange Processes Additional References: Event ID 2080 from MSExchangeDSAccess Exchange Active Directory Provider found no domain controller serversAlso can you run this command get-exchangeserver status |fl stat* and see if you can the new GC. If not try to set the new GC as Set-ExchangeServer -StaticDomainController <FQDN.of.Domain.Controller>Set-ExchangeServer -StaticConfigDomainController <FQDN.of.Config.Domain.Controller>Set-ExchangeServer -StaticGlobalCatalogs <FQDN.of.Global.Catalog.Server>Reboot the exchange server and see if you van get it now. Still not then run DCDIAG and look for AD realted errors in the events logs. Raj

Dear Raj, Thanks for your reply. I got Event ID 2080 : Process IISIPM3C7F3AE4-796B-4BBE-A01C-9BF82310E341 -AP "MSEXCHANGEOWAAPPPOOL (PID=3156). Exchange Active Directory Provider has discovered the following servers with the following characteristics: (Server name | Roles | Enabled | Reachability | Synchronized | GC capable | PDC | SACL right | Critical Data | Netlogon | OS Version) In-site: DC-A2.xx.corp.net CD- 1 6 6 0 0 1 1 6 1 DC-A1.corp.net CD- 1 6 6 0 0 1 1 6 1 GC-A.xx.corp.net CDG 1 7 7 1 0 1 1 7 1 Out-of-site: DC-B.xx.corp.net CD- 1 6 6 0 0 1 1 6 1 GC-B.xx.corp.net CDG 1 7 7 1 0 1 1 7 1 And I tried to telnet : Exchange to GC-A & GC-B : everything ok.. connected GC-A & GC-B to Exchange : Failed Did I need to run static DC?I see some admin experience problem when using this method. The right method should be Exchange automatically discover it self right?Any advice? Dear Vinod, If I add another GC, did I need to do /preparedomain?need your advice. Thanks. Thank you. carckermania
