Exchange OAB Error
Hi, I have several exchange errors and would appreciate any help to solve them. This is SBS 2008 SP2, with Exchange Server 2007
SP1
Version: 08.01.0240.006, here are errors
1- Process MSExchangeFDS.exe (PID=3936). Could not find file \\IMC-004\ExchangeOAB\cf63d242-a823-4b80-93f7-7a4714519dc7\oab.xml. This is normal if the file has never been generated. Otherwise, make sure this file has read permission for the "Exchange
Servers" group. (Event ID 1022)
2- When I open Exchange console with Domain Admin (With local admin I don't have this sort of trouble) account it shows that :
Active Directory server (name) is not available, Error Message. A local error occured, it was running commands get recipient - ResultSize '1000' .....
and after that error follow
--------------------------------------------------------
3-Microsoft Exchange Error
--------------------------------------------------------
The following error(s) were reported while loading topology information:
get-ExchangeServer
Failed
Error:
Active Directory server IMC-004.IMC.local is not available. Error message: A local error occurred.
A local error occurred.
get-UMServer
Failed
Error:
Active Directory server IMC-004.IMC.local is not available. Error message: A local error occurred.
A local error occurred.
--------------------------------------------------------
OK
--------------------------------------------------------
As a result of this I cannot do anything, nothing is listed. I read somewhere that I need to delete and recreate admin account, but I think that is little to hush, is there any other way.
4- error in outlook during synchronization , probably because of the first error
<time> Microsoft Exchange offline address book
<time> Not downloading Offline address book files. A server (URL) could not be located
<time> 0x8004010F
use to be 0x80072F06 but recently changed
When I try to update address book, it shows two more errors
=> OALGen encountered error 80040115 while initializing the offline address list generation process. No offline address lists have been generated. Please check the event log for more information. - /o=IMC/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default

=> OALGen encountered error 80040115 (internal ID 50004ef) accessing Active Directory IMC-004 for ''.

Hi,
Apparently, the failed connectivity of the DC (IMC-004.IMC.local) should be the culprit of the issue.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dgoldman/archive/2007/11/15/oab-generation-fails-to-generate-with-errors-9330-and-9334.aspx
Please ensure the connectivity of the DC is fine, use the DCDiag command to check it.
Thanks

please re-start the microsoft exchange ad toplogy service if you have multiple DCs, a good dc will atutomatically be selected
then, increae diagnostic logging for Msexchangesa\OAL generator
http://blogs.technet.com/b/julian/archive/2007/01/08/turning-up-the-diagnostic-logging-in-exchange-2007.aspx
then update the offline address book and check the events in eventviewer on exchange server
and post errors here

I already increased diagnostic logging, although I don't know how to see results. If it is just in Event viewer then I have only these two errors
OALGen encountered error 80040115 while initializing the offline address list generation process. No offline address lists have been generated. Please check the event log for more information. - /o=IMC/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default
Offline Address List

- /o=IMC/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address List

sorry i missed this is a SBS,
"OALGen encountered error 80040115 (internal ID 50004ef) accessing Active Directory "
please check if you have unchecked the IPV6.. if so check the ipv6 box on network properties of this server, ensure that the server lists its own ip as dns server
(for external resolution user forwarder to isp)

Hi Jonas , I read Allen post but I didn't solved problem. Yes definitely those are errors but as solutions are
1. DNS entry = there is MX entry with correct IP of SBS server
2. Duplicate addresses = there are no duplicated addresses
3. DS server registry key is not used
4. Permissions = I first only check permissions and they are listed as in the article, but just in case I've run
[PS] C:\Windows\System32>Add-ADPermission $container -User "Authenticated Users" -AccessRights GenericRead, ListChildren -ExtendedRights Open-Address-Book
WARNING: Appropriate ACE is already present on object "CN=Default GlobalAddress List,CN=All Global Address Lists,CN=Address Lists

Do a little test here
Start adsiedit.msc go to
Configuration _> Services -> Microsoft Exchange -> Administrative Groups -> Exchange Administrative Groups -> Folder Hierarchies and take properties of Public Folders
Check the attribute msExchOwningPFTreeBL, where does it point?Jonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog:

So when I go to Configuration - Services - Microsoft Exchange - CN=DOMAIN - Administrative groups > I have here 2 CNs
1 Exchange Admin Group (public folder doesn't exist here)
- Advance Security
- Routing Groups
- Servers (Here I have CN of new SBS 2008)
2 First administrative group
- Adv. Sec.
- Policies
- Routing Groups
- Servers (Here I have CN of old SBS 2003 not present in the network any more)
- Folder Hierarchy
- Public folders (when I go here attribute msExchOwningPFTreeB doesn't exist )

I went to public folder management and to offline address book folder, choose properties to entry
- /o=IMC/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address List (the one that is listed in event viewer)
choose Exchange general tab from properties and there wa error that Alias is not good.
this is Alias (as is)
Offline Address Book - /o=IMC/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Of
Also replication is chosen to be on old SBS 2003 server First storage group
Can I delete replica and how can I repair Alias , and can that be the problem why I can't update OAB ??
