Hi, I have Exchange 2003 and has set up a SMTP Connector to use my ISP's mail server as I have a dynamic IP address and my mail keeps getting bounced back from the major servers if I use my own virtual server. I have configured the connector correctly as far as I can see by all the walk throughs with also adding SMTP authentication as required by my ISP but when sending an email it always bounces back with the following : "There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Hi Neil, We can see the mail failed to be delivered due to authentication required. . Please check the corresponding SMTP connector propertiesAdvanced tabOutbound Security, please make sure you have set proper authentication information there. If you have set outbound security settings on SMTP virtual server, please empty it. If the issue persists, we need to use network monitor to capture network traffic on the server to see if the authentication related commend is returned as expected. Ive checked the SMTP connector properties -Advanced tab - Outbound Security - and I have selected 'Basic Authentication' and using the 'modify' button I have my ISP user details (these details work perfectly in outlook when using a POP3 account setup for SMTP authentication)The SMTP virtual server has under 'Access' - 'Authentication' has all 3 options ticked.
