Exchange Server 2003 mailbox access is really slow.
I have an Exchange 2003 Server running on Windows Server 2003 Std. and I am getting complaints from users everyday regarding very slow response. I have the following Event Viewer Application log warning message which I get every now and then: Description: Information Store (6120) A request to read from the file "\SERVERNAME\$8413a9f0-e2e6-4b71-97ae-ce69b7892701\$CopySrc000000017C7DEB40$" at offset 0 (0x0000000000000000) for 65536 (0x00010000) bytes succeeded, but took an abnormally long time (76 seconds) to be serviced by the OS. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem. I looked through DELL Open manage and couldn't find a single warning or error message. Any help would be appreciated.

This is due to excessive disk checking which can be faulty hardware but not necessarily, you can also see this when taking snapshots and does post DB integrity checks. I would at least start with seeing if there's any driver updates for your controllers, hba's etc if you don't have any support agreement with dell to open a ticket. Also run Exchange Best Practice Analyzer to see if it complains about disk latency.James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com
