Exchange Server 2007 - How to accept incoming mail?
Hi there I have set up Exchange Server 2007 on a Windows Server 2008 64-bit which also happens to be the domain controller for the network (domainname.local ). The email domain that the server needs to accept is domainname.com . The network is setup with three servers...1 Linux box acting as the firewall (external and internal IP), 1 Server 2008 64-bit box (only internal IP) acting as the Active-Directory, DNS, DHCP and Exchange server 2007 with all pre-requisites (typical install - Hub Transport Role, Client Access Role, Mail Box Role, Exchange Management tools) and 1 Server 2008 32-bit box (only internal IP) with Terminal Services and Microsoft Ofice 2007 with Communicator. Mail is being directed to the Linux firewall which then tries to flush it to the Exhange server. The problem is that the Exchange server does not seem to be accepting the mail. I have added domainname.com to the accepted domains list for the server and set it to be the default acepted domain. I have configured a few other setting I thought may have done the trick, but none of them seemed to work. What and how am I meant to configure for the Exchange Server to accept incoming mail that is being flushed from the Linux firewall and to subsequently forward the messages to the appropriate mailboxes? Thanks in advance

Hi there,Set anonymous on the default Recieve Connector to allow un-authenticated mail for your Accepted Domain to be permitted.Hope this helps,Take careOliver

Just to clarify seeing you are new to Exchange.Open the Management Console.Server Configuration > Hub Transport > Select the Default Receive Connector > Properties > Permissions Groups > Anonymous users. This doesn't make you Open Relay - it simply means emails destined for your domain can be delivered to your Hub Transport Servers without either Client or Exchange Server authentication.Oliver

I agree with Oliver. you can see if anonymous permission is the real cause by Telnet from Linux box to exchange 2007 it should give banner and immediately drop the connection.
