Exchange Server 2010 question
Hello, I have just deployed exchange server 2010 on my domain, and needed a little help on outlook anywhere. I have cofigured all of the outlook anywhere settings, however after doing some research it looks like I would have to purchase a trusted certificate
from a 3rd party online. Is that true? I have employees who use outlook 2010 on their laptops outside of the network, and when I try setting up their exchange account within outlook (outside of network) i get a certificate error and warning. I have my external
domain already setup with dns pointing to my public ip and port forwarding 443 and 80 to my private exchange server ip. I will also have mobile phones needing access as well. I did read up on the topic online, but just wanted to see if there was an expert
out there that could give a little more clarification on what is necessary for connecting to exchange server from outside the network, other than owa. Thanks in advance for any help.

It is not a totally mandated thing in the sense that nothing will work but well, yes, you need to purchase something. There are literally hundreds of places to get one and thousands of pages that will show you the GUI and PowerShell. Take a look at:
http://www.digicert.com/ssl-support/exchange-2010-san-names.htm for some basic information and understanding of what names you should ask for on your certificate.
Then you can come back to the group and ask, if you need to, how to get it onto your system.

Hi,
According to your description, you should first purchase a trusted certificate from a third party. And after that, if you want outlook clients to connect to exchange server from outside the network, you need to deploy outlook anywhere on Exchange server
and then configure outlook clients to connect to Exchange server by the way of outlook anywhere. To deploy Outlook Anywhere in your Exchange 2010 messaging environment, you need to enable Outlook Anywhere on at least one Client Access server using the Enable
Outlook Anywhere wizard in the Exchange Management Console.
For more information, you can refer to the article
Understanding Outlook Anywhere.
Hope it helps.
