Hi, Last night I installed a new exchange server at a client site, the install went fine, the move of the mailboxes from the old server to the new server went ok (a couple minor issues with corrupt emails but nothing major). The problem is that the C drive on the new server is now full. The new server has 2 drives C: which is the os partition and D: which is where I installed exchange too. Everything for Exchange was installed to the D: drive yet for some reason when I did the Mailbox move from with in the system manager my C: drive went from 8GB free to 5MB. I have highlighted all directories, hidden and system files on the drive and did a Properties and they only equal 4 GB so I am wondering where the other 8GB is and how I can clean it up so I have space back on my C drive? thanks, Andrew

Andrew, The move mailbox operation will generate transaction logs, is the transaction log directory stored on the C:\ drive please check on the properties of the storage group to determine its location. If that is the case run a full online backup to truncate the transaction logs. Hi Brian, That is what I thought of first but the Transaction Logs directory is on the D: drive as well. The weird thing is I cannot find any files or directories on C: that would be taking up the space. Andrew

Did your pagefile.sys file on the C: drive possibly grow?

Pagefile.sys is only 2GB which is what it was at before the move. I know it has somethign to do with the move as I had about 100MB free and then I moved anoter mailbox and it shrunk down to 5MB free. Again there are no visible files I can see (yes I set to view all system files and hidden files) that are taking up the space.

Perform a search on the system for *.* and then sort by sizelook through the results to see if anything looks out of place. Do you happen to have any debug logging enabled for anyting?

I'd recommend breaking down the subfolders under C: one at a time and calculating up all the totals. the used data has to be somewhere and a mailbox move should do anything like that. I'd be on the lookout for a virus/malware that might be hiding the 'missing' data.

Going through everything it looks like it is the Spam Filter program that I installed that seems to be eating all the memory. Thanks for all the help on this.

Hi Everyone, After uninstalling the SpamFilter program I realized it was not what was eating the space so I did some more digging and found out it was the Indexing serveice that was eating it all. I stopped the service and then gave my self access to the System Volume Information folder and deleted all the index files. This was where all the space was taken up. Andrew
