Exchange Server Outlook & IMAP.
I am able to connect Outlook with an Exchange Server connection. When I try to connect the same account from the same machine using IMAP Outlook is failing me. I have tried both the auto connect and manually configure server options. I have looked on the server and I see IMAP and POP3 running and enabled on this account. What could be the problem? My IP is DHCP on private network with DNS pointing to the PDC which is 10.20.30.40 with alternate of 10.20.30.1 which is the ISP's router. 10.20.30.40 is what is running Exchange server. I know that's not recommended but I did not do it so not my fault.

Not using the correct port. Connecting to the wrong CAS (your mailbox may be in a different AD site). Without the logging and/or error codes nobody can do anymore than guess what your problem might be. >My IP is DHCP on private network with DNS pointing to the PDC which is 10.20.30.40 with alternate of 10.20.30.1 which is the ISP's router. 10.20.30.40 is what is running Exchange server. How do I turn on logging? What do you mean by a CAS server? It is possible there is some crapware on the workstation blocking some ports. I will have to check that out on Monday.

By sitting on the server and using telnet to connect to port 143 I realized that the service must not be running. A quick look into services revealed that IMAP4 was not running. I turned it on and the problems ceased. I was unaware of the fact that I needed to restart the service after making my configuration changes. I just needed to restart the service like on UNIX.
