Hi, I have a client who needs exchange setup and mails hosted locally. What does current mail hosting provider need to give to the client and what are the stumps to look out for? Thanks.

Hi There is no work for hosting provider, if you plan to deploy exchange setup locally. Until if they are ready to come to your place and deploy exchange server. You need the following 1. 64 bit support hardware with enough memory 2. Windows Server 2003/2008 X64 version 3. Exchange Server /2007/2010 X64 4. Static IP from ISP, Firewall Better you contact them, they will inform you, what are options they are ready to deliver you.

You might need them to change the MX records so that they point to your Exch server is youre going to accpet email directly. Will need to consider moving existing data across, mbx data, pf folders if being used, DNS namespace if you want to contine to use the existing one etc... Work/co-ordinate with the provider to get the job done.Sukh
