Exchange Storage Group not showing in DPM
I'm running Exchange Server 2007 on Windows Server 2008 and DPM 2007 on Server 2003. I successfully installed the agent on the Exchange server, but when I go to add a protection group in DPM, the Exchange Storage groups aren't shown under the Exchange server (I only see the shares and volumes). I'm assuming/hoping this is something stupid. Any ideas?

I tried the steps mentioned here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb795725.aspx To display the Exchange LCR-enabled storage groups in the DPM New Protection Group Wizard, use the following set key command to disable the (LCR) VSS replica writer. set key EnableVssWriter under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Replay\Parameters to 0 DWORD type Note After setting the registry key, you must restart the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service. But still no progress.Incidentally, the ese and eseutil files I put in the bin folder of DPM came from the Exchange bin folder on the Exchange server. The Exchange server is x64, but the DPM server is x86. Could this be posing a problem, or are those two files not specifically built for x64? I haven't gotten any errors since copying the two files, but I suppose it could be silently failing.

Yes, we cant use 64-bit Eseutil files on 32-bit DPM server Please see Eseutil.exe and Ese.dll section in the link you posted before You use the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 management tools to maintain up-to-date copies of eseutil.exe and ese.dll If the remote computer is running a 32-bit operating system, you must download the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 32-bit management tools

I then copied and pasted the ese.dll and eseutil.exe files into the DPM bin folder. DPM still doesn't show the Exchange Storage groups.

Please run MSP Report, and reproduce the issue, and check the report log Suggest you to open a post on the DPM Newsgroup to check if theres any info in the DPM trace

If I disable LCR, I am able to see the storage group in DPM. With LCR enabled, the copy status is healthy, but I can't see the storage groups in DPM. Does that shed any light on the situation?

The Microsoft Exchange Information Store does not appear on the Select Group Members page of the New Protection Group Wizard. If the Exchange Local Continuous Replication (LCR) VSS replica writer is enabled, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store will not appear on the Select Group Members page of the New Protection Group Wizard. To display the Exchange LCR-enabled storage groups in the DPM New Protection Group Wizard, use the following set key command to disable the (LCR) VSS replica writer. set key EnableVssWriter under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Replay\Parameters to 0 DWORD type Note After setting the registry key, you must restart the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service.

Hi fyathyrio8,I know you said you have already tried what I have posted above. But please check the REG key again. This definitely should help. I had the same problem as you and after setting the REG key and restarting the MIcrosoft Exchange Replication Service, DPM was immediately able to see the stores.

Here's a link to the screen shot of the registry value I had added (the current location is shown in the bottom left). Let me know if I made some stupid mistake.http://i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss24/fyathyrio8/Capture.png

The REG value seems to be OK and on the right place. It is exactly like I did it. The only difference between my setup and yours is, that I am running the DPM also on a Win2k8 64-Bit machine. But this should not make any difference as long as you have placed the two32-bit ese files into Program files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\bin. As I see in your previous post you have done that already.Have you installed at least SP1 Rollup 4 on your Exchange? Sorry for the stupid question, but without it, it would not work either.

... and I am sure you also have restarted the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service after adding the REG key.

... and I am sure you also have restarted the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service after adding the REG key. Indeed. I did so multiple times, and at one point went so far as to restart the server. All available updates for Exchange have been installed via Microsoft Update. Still no luck.
