Exchange and de-duplication software
We are running an EMC Clarrion CX4 SAN for our file/print, Exchange, etc. Our vendor has suggested we could take advantage of the de-duplication features with EMC when we move to new storage, whereby storage is saved by not duplicating data. Does anyone know briefly how this works? I've googled but don't get much I understand...I can get the basics for how this would work with File data (e.g. home drives ,shared drives), but how about Exchange? Can it even work with Exchange?

Hiya, The replacement for the CX/Celerra line, the VNX won't deduplicate Exchange data. Thinks like FAST for auto storage tiering will work though. The stats the vendor gets you to pull of Navisphere during sizing would tell you and them if that will be something worth doing for your specific environment.
