Exchange architecture
Can anyone give me an absolute idiots summary of what each of the various elements in an exchange setup actually do, perhaps in the anology of sending/receiving mail? And also - will each element be on a different host/server, and will each element be present in every exchange setup, or not always? CAS services - what do they do/in the context of sending or receiving mailEdge services - what do they do/in the context of sending or receiving mailHub services - what do they do/in the context of sending or receiving mailMailbox services - what do they do/in the context of sending or receiving mailUM services - what do they do/in the context of sending or receiving mail **Please keep answers management/low tech freindly and as little exchange jargon as possible*** Also on which of these elements do your mail filters reside, i.e. websense email security, that which protects spam/malware/inappropriate coming in/going out?
