Exchange automatic email forwarding to Yahoo.com
Hi All, I am new to Exchange Server Management. I need to setup an automatic forwarding for an Outlook/Exchange email account that will forward all emails to a Yahoo account. Tries to do a forward within Exchange but will not let me use Yahoo.com as a forwarding address. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, GMCPic

Hi GMCPic, You need to enable auto-forwarder and auto-repliesoptions in Internet Message Formats of Global Settings if you have configuredoutlook rules to forward mails to yahoo.com otherwise it doesn't work. Open Exchange System Manager-> Expand Global Settings andclick Internet Message Formats -> Double-click on "Default" (or if you have added any specific to doamin) ->Click the Advanced tab and then click to select following check options. Allow automatic repliesAllow automatic forward Second option, if you want to set forwarder in the Active Directory User object then create a contact object for your yahoo.com email address and follow below steps. Open User's Properties -> Exchange General -> Dilevery Options ->Forwarding address, forward to and click on Modify and select the contact which you created for yahoo.com email address. To forward emails, you must have an internal object that Exchange recognizes. What you need to do is create email enabled contact which has desired SMTP email address. You can then enable forwarding and when asked to select, select the contact object you just created. This will enable you to forward emails to yahoo.com (or any SMTP) address.

That is the normal approach. I have just inherited a system that has been set to only allow internal addresses to send to other internal addesses. The people are blocked from forwarding any email to an outside account.I looked and could not find where this Policy is set, to allow Out-of-Office forwarding from their Outlook 2k3.Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
